Mr. J.J. “Bucky” Houdmann was a dear friend, co-worker, family man, rancher, and fishing buddy. A participant of many annual fishing trips to Port Mansfield with friends and family, it seemed only fitting that his “fishing buds” start a tournament in his honor and donate the proceeds to a scholarship fund in his name for a graduating high school senior from his hometown of George West, Texas.
This annual get together has grown consistently over the past seven years thanks to the hard work and dedication of the tournament founders and the Live Oak County Area Go Texan Committee, as well as the generosity of many sponsors, donors, and participants.
Our sponsors pick up the tab for food and drinks and donors contribute fishing gear, coolers, guided weekend hunting and fishing trips, along with numerous other items. None of this would be possible if it weren’t for the participation of the fishermen themselves and for that we say, “Thank You.”
As Bucky would say, “I’m gonna have a good time and you can’t stop me!” We certainly hope this holds true for everyone involved and we look forward to the tournament’s continued growth and success.
